This is the first year Luton Phoenix has entered the USL Open, which is organised annually by the USL founders.
The tournament gave us a lot of positives and the new players performed well and kept going despite the results. With a strong collection of young players the team can expect some positive results from the coming season.
St Johns were the overall winners of the tournament, they beat USL Red Star on penalties.
Luton Phoenix will be playing there first game as a team against the Barry Bolton League champions Red Star.
Red Star have now formed with USL and as most of the players have played against Red Star in the league it should be a interesting encounter.
Kamrul Haque, the Phoenix manager was confident his team can gel together and be prepared for the long season ahead. Kam goes on to say, “This is an oppurtunity to see all the players together and test the different formations before the start of the season”
The game will be played at Wigmore Park and kick off is at 14:30pm.
