Phoenix flying with airport shirt deal

FLEDGING local football team Phoenix FC are off to a flying start after securing a shirt sponsorship deal, writes Tom Skinner.  The new Sunday League team will proudly take to the pitch this season with the London Luton Airport logo emblazoned on their kit.

Mujahid Zaman, who works for the airport, founded the team with his friends and was delighted to receive the support from his employer. He said “The team has been established by a set of friends who collectively have the same love and passion for football. ” Luton Phoenix was set up with the intention to win and succeed both in the league and the community.

“As a start up team we are relying on the support and generosity of local businesses and the airport kicking things off by kindly sponsoring our kit.

Simon Earles, General Manager Planning and CSR, London Luton Airport added;

‘When we received the request from Muj, we are keen to support his new venture, which he is so obviously very passionate about.  Supporting airport employees is an integral part of the Community Engagement Strategy, which the Airport continues to deliver providing support across the Airport community, whether that be with employees, stakeholders or the wider community.’

The move also offers a boost for co-founders Junaid Afzal, Louis Ebanks, Jafer Raza and team manager, Kamrul Haque.

Luton Phoenix FC actively take part in the campaign to Kick Racism Out of  Football which encourages interaction within the different communities, challenges discrimination, encourages inclusive practices and works for positive change.
